PR daily and Linkedin pushing companies to tweet

Posted by taniapaiva on June 4, 2011

I have noticed recently that Linkedin is really highlighting social media in their periodic emails they send out to the community.  Here, their point is companies that tweet do better sales-wise/brand loyalty-wise — particularly when they engage in discussion with their audience online.

STORY:

When businesses open a Twitter account, they’re likely to garner at least a few followers. But when those businesses answer a question on Twitter, that’s when the real magic happens.

Twitter users are 64 percent more likely to make a purchase from a business that answers their questions on Twitter, according to an inboxQ survey. It also noted that users are 59 percent more likely to follow businesses that answer their questions.

The lesson here: Answering questions on Twitter = good. Ignoring questions on Twitter = bad.

Unless, of course, the answer is just too painful to relay to the public.
