Maersk Oil, the international oil and gas company, is using digital tactics to recruit men and women to the oil exploration profession. The online computer game, ‘Quest for Oil,’ is the first of its kind that allows anyone to try their hand at the oil drilling industry for fun or for practical reasons. The company said, “Maersk gives the chance to experience the challenging world of being on a drilling rig with its 53,000 tonnes of steel rammed into the bottom of the ocean.”

I think this is an interesting example of the oil industry, which has suffered from a lack of interest younger generations of employees, trying to attract a younger, digitally active generation of the workforce to its industry. Maersk Drilling head Claus Hemmingsen said: “New times call for new measures, and we want to use the computer game to tell the story of an extremely innovative business, which the entire world depends on, in a new and engaging way.”
