Scandal: Cast Members on Twitter

Posted by jennywang6 on June 17, 2013

One of my favorite shows in recent years is ABC’s Scandal – a TV drama that follows Olivia Pope, crisis expert and expert fixer, along with her team of “gladiators” as they involve themselves in some of the nation’s biggest controversies and secrets.  Sure, the show’s a bit campy, and definitely unrealistic, but the salacious nature of it’s power-hungry, ambitious stars can be addicting to watch.  Its constantly shocking plot lines leave viewers hungry for more, and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to be Kerry Washington?

The cast members attribute their use of Twitter in engaging with fans as a reason why the show has gained so much in popularity.  The large cast tweeted constantly during each live episode of Season 3, setting new records and driving interest to each week’s story.  Other television shows would be wise to take a cue or two from this – a tv show’s popularity these days can often times be aided or contributed to by its use of social media as a means of promotion and fan engagement.

Do you have any favorite TV shows that also try to engage with you as a fan on social media?
