Posted by jennywang6 on June 18, 2013

Today, the Facebook founder met with South Korea’s President, Park Geun-hye, in Seoul.  Zuckerberg is there to discuss how to promote and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in South Korea, and he assured President Geun-hye that Facebook will continue to invest in her country.

The visit comes on the heels of other meetings between President Geun-hye and leading technology experts and leaders – she has also met with Larry Page (CEO of Google) and Bill Gates.  Geun-hye believes that fostering startups and venture capital investment as the solution for decreasing South Korea’s unemployment rate.

As someone who works for a client that invests venture capital in various startups, I witness the power and success that the start-up world can bring; however, all too many start-ups fail or are a flash-in-the-pan.  So what do you think – are start-ups the best solution for a high unemployment rate or lagging economy?
