Changes In The AP Stylebook 2013 Edition

Posted by nguldin on June 24, 2013

You have to love AP style. Just kidding. You really don’t have to, but in our field it is necessary to know the rules and regulations that come along with it. Here is a quick review of the changes made in the latest edition:

  1. Numerals are now preferred for distances and dimensions
  2. The term illegal is now limited to actions and not people. As an example, it cannot be used to describe undocumented immigrants anymore
  3. The weapon section of AP Style has also been updated including the differences between assault rifle and assault weapon
  4. Oxford comma is still not considered AP Style!
