NPR Provides Personalized Public Radio Recommendations With New App

Posted by paulchronister on July 29, 2014

NPR has recently launched NPR One, a streaming app that offers personalized recommendations based on your interests, location, and listening history. Think of it as Pandora for news and other various news programs. The more you use the app, the more it will learn your tastes and be able to recommend programs to you. You can also influence NPR One’s future suggestions by marking a clip as “interesting” or sharing a clip with friends through social media.

NPR One is a step up from NPR’s original news app because it is able to emphasize content from your local station, and curate suggestions based on your listening history. It allows you to discover new content that you most likely wouldn’t be able to locate before. So whether I am in DC or back home near Baltimore, if I want to listen to NPR I can use NPR One it will automatically adjust to my location and give me the local stations/shows I want, rather than having to manually search for them in NPR’s original news app.
